Sylvan is a former South African Diplomat and Economic Representative in the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Mozambique respectively. He worked for the South African Department of Trade & Industry, assigned responsibilities of International Trade & Economic Development, Trade & Investment Facilitation and Promotion, and Bilateral Economic Relations.
Before joining the Public Service, Sylvan worked in the private sector primarily in the Marketing & Sales Fields for multinational companies, Mittal Steel South Africa, Lafarge Cement South Africa and Consolidated Wire Industries (CWI).
Sylvan has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of the Witwatersrand with specialization in Economics and Management Science (Operations Research). He has completed a post graduate Diploma in Management Studies with the Management College of Southern Africa (MANCOSA), obtained a Project Management Certificate from CS Holdings South Africa and an Applied International Trade Bargaining Certificate from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
